General Grants | Past Grants | Application

The CFAC General Grant Program is designed to provide funding of up to $5000 for the implementation of educational projects for which funding may otherwise be unavailable. Proposals should result in the enhanced learning experience of students, grades Pre K-12.

Grants may be awarded to fund projects in areas such as the arts, technology, drug/alcohol awareness, environmental conservation, etc. with the following purposes:

  • To introduce an innovative method of instruction for students
  • To provide enrichment for students
  • To arrange for speakers or field trips to complement instruction for students (funding for transportation will not be considered)
  • To create resource materials for the specific instruction of students
  • To replicate a proven instructional project for students
  • To pilot an experimental but promising project that would not ordinarily be offered

Grant applications should:

  • Follow a professional presentation format
  • Contain a clear description of the project
  • Contain fully developed goals and objective
  • Align themselves with the NYS Educational Standards
  • Provide instruction for current students in the current year
  • State a definite time schedule for implementation from December-May
  • Outline clear steps for implementation
  • Describe outcomes that are consistent with the goals stated 
  • Indicate specific impact on student learning
  • Describe clear assessment methods to evaluate the success of the project
  • Contain a budget with a detailed list of expenditures appropriate to the project
  • The focus should be the enrichment of instruction for students

    Awards will be announced within one month after receipt of grant.

    All grant awardees must adhere to grant application procedures which among other criteria require a minimum of quarterly attendance at CFAC general meetings.

    Application Information

    Eligibility

    Eligible recipients are public or private school teachers and community groups within the Connetquot School District. Individual groups may apply for no more than two grants annually. Funding will be provided up to a maximum of $5,000.

    Application Process

    All grants applications MUST be typed or word-processed. The narrative is three (3) 8 ½ x 11-in. pages in either 10 or 12-point print. No more than three (3) people permitted on one grant. Individual applicants may submit no more than two (2) per year.

    Submit the original grant application plus three (3) copies. Grant applications include: Cover Sheet, Signature Sheet, Checklist Sheet, Title Page for Proposal, Proposal Narrative Sheets (addressing the nine items—maximum 3 pages).

    ALL necessary signatures must be given on the Signature and Checklist Sheet; this includes the signatures of Applicant(s) and Organization Administrator.

    IMPORTANT—Omit any reference(s) to your organization’s name, or individuals, except on the Cover Sheet, to ensure anonymity in the grading process. 

    NO FAXES CAN BE ACCEPTED.

    Criteria for Judging

    Grant awards will be selected by a rating committee comprised of CFAC Board members and past Grant winners. Committee members will read and rate them according to the Narrative Requirements. All decisions of the Committee are final.

    Awards will be announced within one month of receipt of the grant.

    Budget

    The budget for Grant funds may not exceed $5,000 and should clearly explain how the money will be used in the project. Examples of appropriate expenditures are: materials/supplies (i.e. paper, books, “kits,” lumber, etc.), field trips, equipment (camera, printer, etc.), guest speakers, and consultants for the project. Any equipment purchased through the grant program becomes the property of the organization NOT THE INDIVIDUAL.

    Note: NYS Sales tax cannot be reimbursed. All purchases/bills/invoices must be in the name of “Connetquot Foundation” or “CFAC” along with the name of the grantee and shipping location.

    Awarding of the Grant

    The grant will be paid directly to the company(s) supplying the materials and/or services. The grantee must make arrangements with the vendor(s) as to payment and shipping location. All purchases/bills/invoices must be in the name of “Connetquot Foundation” or “CFAC” along with the name of the grantee and shipping location. 

    The preferred method of payment is by issuing a CFAC check. The check can be issued to the grantee, but will be made out to the company supplying the materials or services. CFAC can issue a purchase order to the company(s) supplying the materials/services if the supplier is willing to ship the materials to the grantee and directly invoice CFAC. If the preferred payment can not be achieved, payment can be made utilizing CFAC’s credit card. The foundation does not pay sales tax and the treasurer will issue the supplier a tax exemption certificate. Sales tax must be removed from the total amount of the purchase.

    If payment is to be made directly to the supplier by the treasurer, submit to the treasurer all price quotes, contact person, quotation number and/or account number. Submit all information that will be needed to make payment to the vendor. Also submit to the treasurer how to contact the grantee. Phone number(s) and email address where the grantee can be reached. When the grant is awarded, it will contain information as to how to contact the treasurer. 

    CFAC Grant Showcase Agreement

    All award winners will be required to share their projects at the CFAC Showcase in May to ensure dissemination of project information throughout the Connetquot community.
